Heart to Heart

Primarily, the management, regulation, and government of a family or the concerns of a household. A frugal and judicious use of money; the management which expends money to advantage, and incurs no waste. Economy includes also a prudent management of all the means by which property is saved or accumulated; a judicious application of time, of labor, and of the instruments of labor.

Where Your Treasure Is There Your Heart Will Be Also

Our family rather loathes to be separated except for once a year when the boys go away for their Father/Son campout while Sonia and I spend some one-on-one ourselves where we don’t feel guilty sitting around all day and night, reading, crafting, reading, playing games, reading, scrapbooking, reading, and watching movies. Unlike most days, which are consumed with cooking for the boys and working for our business and CHEF, this yearly rendezvous is purely holiday for us.

Mornings begin by reading in bed while sipping tea and eating pastries. Then the day proceeds according to our leisure mode—at the pace that suits us in our vacation mindset. I usually purchase little items for the occasion of which Sonia is particularly fond, like shortbread cookies, filet mignon, salami, and such. Of course, we always try to have lunch at Josephine’s and later toast our bond with some sparkling grape juice in our fluted champagne glasses.

However, I must qualify this picture with the fact that except for the movies, everything that we do is really for the boys as well because all of our reading material centers around the home, as the content focuses on decorating and cooking. Even the meals we share while the boys are gone are punctuated with cooking shows, indicative of the fact that our thoughts never wander far from our goal to please our men. “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21 All in all, it is a great time for us.
