Heart to Heart

“Only a little over half of our population pays income tax. To be more exact, 52% pay the entire tax burden in the US. Of that number, the top 1% of earners pays almost 40% of the total tax burden each year. The top 25%, any family making the combined income of $66,000 plus per year, pay 87.3% of the total tax burden. Not exactly the millionaire and billionaires the Obama campaign is constantly blasting. God’s Word says, “If anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat either” (2 Thessalonians 3:10). Obama made $5.6 million last year alone. I say that he should use his money to help the people he wants us to help and stop stealing from our pockets. If he wants society to be equal, as a leader, he should show the way.

Andrea Piper shares: While reading an article about Chick-Fil-A, there was a section at the bottom “promoting” companies and/or products that support the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender lifestyle. We were shocked at the number of prominent companies that boldly stand against morality and the institution of marriage. The list includedStarbucks, Proctor and Gamble, Target, Kraft (Oreos namely), Betty Crocker, Levi’s, General Mills, GAP and its subsidiaries, Walgreen’s, Ford Motor Company, American Apparel, Home Depot, PepsiCo, Safeway Grocery, Girl Scouts of America, JC Penney (wouldn’t Mr. Penney be so disappointed!), and Macy’s. Additionally, Costco’s president was a main speaker at the Democratic National Convention supporting President Obama.

This information has challenged our family to spend our money elsewhere. I am sure there are more products and more companies that I don’t even know about. Spending our money at these places, to me, is like saying that God’s Word doesn’t matter as long as I’m getting a good deal.
