Fall Table Decorations PDF Print E-mail
Delightful Surprises

I love to create beautiful table settings for our meals so that we have a lovely atmosphere while we sup and commune together. Decorations often take just a few minutes to pull together, especially in the fall as I continue to use pumpkins, gourds, and leaves as the mainstay.

Fall is such a beautiful season so naturally I love fall tablecloths that replicate Godís handiwork of rich colors which add warmth to any table setting. Here I gathered a bouquet of fall colored Zinnias from our garden which I surrounded with small pumpkins. For those of you who are curious about this meal, it is homemade pasta noodles with a sausage cream sauce.

For another quick but different setting, I simply surrounded a striped squash with pumpkins.

This time I placed an orange squash with gourds in our large yellow bowl. Around the bowl, I scattered leaves from our yard.† The soup bowls contain tortilla soup with cilantro.

Pumpkins, gourds, leaves, and fall colored candles line the center of this lovely table setting. Take note of the cute goody bags I made for everyone. To make these, I simply traced around leaf and acorn cookie cutters on brown construction paper. I then cut these out and decorated them with a black marker. I made a cute face on each acorn, and wrote each family memberís name on the leaves. These I glued on each orange paper bag.††

For this place setting, I used decorative corn along with pumpkins, gourds and leaves. I actually save the leaves and reuse them year after year, adding pretty ones to our ever growing collection. The glittering pumpkin in the background is one that Sonia and I created several years ago by covering plastic pumpkins with craft glue and then sprinkling with fall colored glitter.†

Although the gold grapevine tree is really one of our Christmas decorations, I thought it would look nice surrounded by a fall floral wreath and pumpkins, of course. And I was not disappointed when we dimmed the lights and plugged in the twinkle lights that are housed within the gold tree.† I would not normally combine something so elegant as this gold tree, and therefore more appropriately used for a more elegant holiday, with items such as pumpkins and gourds, but the unusual combination worked well. Do not limit your ideas to things that you have done in the past. For new ideas, consider other seasonal decorations for inspiration.
