Delightful Surprises

While driving on Manchester, I spied a sign “The Book House: New, Used and Rare Books.” With glee, the van swung around and pulled up to a quaint old home filled to the roof with books. The children and I had so much fun searching the bookshelves. They even have a ladder to reach those rare finds on the top shelf (and of course I had to climb the ladder just like they do in the old movies). Old, old books lining the shelves, a ladder, and two cats curled up by the cash register made for a cozy afternoon. We never left the children’s shelves, so we don’t know what lies beyond. As in all bookstores, please beware of what your children see or read!! The Book House is located at 9719 Manchester, 1˝ blocks west of McKnight and also at 2980 Hwy. 100 W. Take Hwy. 44 west to Gray Summit exit (#253), turn left over highway, then turn right; e-mail: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.       Judy Maichel recently gave me a Veritas Press catalog, which contains the largest selection of great historical books I’ve ever seen. I ordered several cases of these catalogs to be given to our support group leaders in January. Look for them at your January meetings or order a catalog by calling 800-922-5082, web site: www.veritaspress.com.

The Book Peddler is also at the top of our list of great catalogs. We gave these catalogs out at our August and October leaders meetings, so look for them at your next support group meeting.

Judy Maichel also gave me a Library and Educational Services catalog and pointed out that they offer the G.A. Henty books for the lowest price of $8.25 for paperbacks and $11.79 for hardcovers. Call 616-695-1800 for a catalog. Y
