Advent
Heart to Heart
Advent means “a coming; appropriately the coming of our Savior, and in the calendar, it includes four Sabbaths before Christmas. It is intended as a season of devotion, with reference to the coming of Christ in the flesh, and his second coming to judge the world.” It is a time to reflect upon our heart, examining it carefully to determine what resolutions we must commit to family scrutiny so that we may be held accountable to make certain of our commitment to change those things we deem necessary to walk according to God’s plumb line so that we may honor Him and not profane His name. This we will discuss in more detail at our next support group meeting and then in another email. However, for now, let us use this time to prepare our hearts for devotion to committing all our ways unto the Lord. Let us consider the debt we can never pay and then rejoice in the gift of grace that God bestowed upon us through Jesus Christ, our Messiah. May we continually meditate upon His Word, seek His will, daily take up the cross, sacrificing our own desires to fulfill His will for our lives—ever mindful of His coming—watching and preparing so that we are ready!
