Café Eau

Café Eau Patio at the Chase Park Plaza-situated on Kingshighway just across from Forest Park is the place to be on a warm summer night.

Every summer, we head to Café Eau’s for a relaxing meal on their patio. Sometimes we dine for lunch, other times we arrive late at night for dessert, but mostly we like to arrive just an hour before sunset so we can enjoy both twilight and the enchanting ambiance of nighttime outdoor dining.

The moment we step onto this lovely patio, my mind unravels to vacation mode as my eyes rest on the palm trees surrounding the beautiful pool.

Seated by the pool, we sit back and enjoy the lovely elegance of this grand hotel. And for a moment in time, we immerse ourselves in this 1922 hotel’s glorious past.

Chaise lounges line one side of the pool, along the gorgeous arches of this luxury hotel’s portico.

Surrounded by other beautiful buildings the view is lovely no matter where one looks.

On the way to and from the patio, the warm colors and timeless lines of the interior décor delight the eyes.

A St. Louis landmark since 1922, the Chase has hosted every US President from the 1920’s to the 1990’s. “Chase is the place” was the catch phrase during my parent’s time and remains a desired destination for those who appreciate timeless classical elegance.  However, we were told that this is fast becoming a favorite nightspot for young people, so it is best to go during the week. When we went this past Thursday night at 10:30, it was like old times with classical music playing outside, but when I asked if the weekends get noisy the waitress said that they could, so call to see what the agenda is for the night.
